service last night was more interesting than it usually is. the ministry decided to take on a different style yesterday, to make it more like a Q&A session with our cg mentors. being closer to our age group, i feel like their perspectives are relatable and some points raised last night really felt like words i'd say myself.
my main takeaways from the service are,
be a more intentional christian - sometimes, as christians, we do/don't do certain things because they're generally good/bad, and we do other things that we know the bible tells us is good/bad. it's important to differentiate the two, or else, we may come across as a good person, instead of a christian. i guess, one point is to make more obvious the things we do because we are christian.
sow the seeds - the little things we do as christians do and will have an impact on the ones around us who witness our actions. thus, raising the previous point again, we need to make those actions more obvious that they were done because of god, not only because of good. little by little, the things we do which people see will make them think, and they'll realise that we're doing all these because of god. radiating the light of god towards them will allow them to become more interested in the faith. it was also raised during service last night that we should act now and fast. as people get older, there will be more things that will prevent them from believing in god or making it harder for them to believe in god. an example last night was that, in ten years, your non-christian classmate's parent may pass away, and if you were to share with them the gospel then, it would be indirectly telling them that their parent went to hell. that was something i've never thought of before but the truth is painfully accurate. this gives me a sense of urgency to spread the good news.
the service in all was an insightful one, hearing from the ones that have gone before us was like a peek into our futures. hearing about the things they would change if they could have really makes me think deeper and harder about the things i can do for my friends now, and the things i can do to not have the same regrets as the mentors do.
